“If the Green Patch were to be the recipient of this award, the funds would be used to help us increase the production and scale of the Green Patch in order to match the need for quality produce donations to Carmichael, other soup kitchens in the city, and to the Campus Community Cupboard. This funding would allow us to greatly increase the output from the garden each year. If granted this award, we would: – Create and run food preservation programs and workshops – Make the garden more accessible by building wheelchair accessible beds – Implement a more efficient irrigation and water management system – Collaborate with the U of R’s Team Compost group to reduce overall food waste on campus – Create a consistent pest management system The Green Patch is an extremely valuable asset to the Regina community when it comes to providing high quality, organic food to those who can’t afford it”.
