Join RPIRG for its 2021 virtual AGM and a workers rights workshop
RPIRG is happy to announce its 2021 Annual General Meeting (AGM)—which is happening on September 22nd at 2-4pm through Zoom. Considering the safety and convenience of all our members, RPIRG is hosting this event virtually. AGM is a chance for members to know about our work and join conversations about the things that matter to you most. It is also a chance for you to direct our organization by voting on items/motions.
Following the AGM, stick around for an informative “Worker Rights Workshop,” co-presented with the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour which is designed to help students and community members to learn about the rights in the workplace. The attendees will learn about three main rights at their jobs; rights to know; rights to participate and rights to refuse. This workshop is designed for people who are already working but also about to start working.
Find the AGM agenda and other documents as well as details about the workers rights workshop on our AGM page (www.rpirg.org/agm-sgm)
We all have a responsibility to do something when we see street harassment happening, but too often we freeze. We don’t know what to do. Bystander intervention gives us tools to intervene without compromising our own safety. When we intervene, we don’t just reduce trauma for the person being street harassed. We also start to chip away at the culture that allows harassment to be so prevalent. Alone we can’t shift the culture — but together — our actions matter. In this training our goal is to give participants the tools to intervene the next time they witness harassment in public spaces. We will equip you with the right information on how to be an effective bystander in the midst of public space harassment using our proven 5D’s methodology, our five strategies for intervention. Then we will practice so you leave our training feeling more prepared to successfully and safely intervene.
