RPIRG Member

RPIRG is entirely funded and directed by the students at the University of Regina. In March of 2007, students voted in a campus-wide referendum to establish a new fee to the “URSU Related Fees” at the University of Regina. This fee is the membership fee for RPIRG. If you pay fees at the U of R, and haven’t opted out of the RPIRG fee during the designated opt-out period, then you are a voting member of RPIRG.

Members are able to:

  • Apply for funding
  • Run for the Board of Directors
  • Vote at General Meetings
  • Volunteer
  • Work for RPIRG

If you are not a student at the University of Regina anymore, don’t fret! Community members can now opt-in to RPIRG to gain access to the funding application process, for $20.00 per year. As a community member, you will not be able to run for the Board of Directors or have voting power, but full funding is still available to you. Download the Opt-In Form and join the movement.

Every full time and part time student at the U of R pays a $6.19 fee that goes to RPIRG, and every student has the option of opting out of paying this fee, should the student wish to do so. RPIRG is the only campus organization that will offer you the chance to get your fee back. It is your money, and it is your right to decide who has access to it.

Every semester, RPIRG will have a dedicated fee opt-out period, which enables you to fill out the appropriate application and bring it to the RPIRG office along with your student card and current semester timetable to get your money back. This opt-out period takes place every Fall and Winter semester from the first day of classes until the last day of classes. (SO, you just can’t opt-out during finals. Pretty easy, eh?) Download theĀ Opt-Out Form and bring it to the office.
