Mental Health 101: Breaking Barriers

Debbie and Rick West founded the Lincoln’s Life Mattered Foundation in honor of their son, Lincoln, who committed suicide in 2024. In grief, they were able to transform their pain into purpose. Through their foundation, they are committed to raising awareness about mental health struggles and the importance of suicide prevention.

They speak about the impact Lincoln’s passing has had not only on their own lives but also on their family, friends, and wider community. By bringing Lincoln’s story into the open, they aim to break down the stigma surrounding mental health and offer a voice to those who feel unheard. They work to connect people with vital mental health resources, provide support for those who are struggling, and equip communities with the tools needed to recognize the warning signs of emotional distress.
