Volunteers Needed For RPIRG Green Patch Planting Week
The Green Patch Announces Annual Planting Week at the University of Regina.
As the weather warms up and spring blossoms into summer, The Green Patch is excited to announce its 2023 gardening season at the University of Regina campus. The organization is gearing up to plant in its garden and is inviting volunteers to participate in its annual planting week from May 30th to June 2nd.
The Green Patch, a student-led garden, has been dedicated to cultivating a sustainable community garden on campus for several years. The garden is not only a source of fresh produce but also serves as a space for students and community members to connect with nature and learn about sustainable practices.
During the planting week, volunteers will work in the garden from 10 am to 5 pm every day, except for Wednesday and Friday, which will have extended hours until 7 pm. Everyone is welcome to participate, and no prior gardening experience is required.
Volunteers are advised to wear comfortable clothes and shoes that they do not mind getting dirty, as well as a hat, sunglasses, and other gardening gear that they might need. They should also bring their water, as well as sunscreen and bug spray, which will be provided by the organization.
The Green Patch team will provide all the necessary gardening tools and supplies. Volunteers are encouraged to share the news with their friends and family and RSVP if they are interested in participating. If you are interested in volunteering in the garden regularly, you can sign up here.
The Green Patch's planting week is an excellent opportunity for students and community members to get involved in sustainable gardening and positively impact the environment. The RPIRG is looking forward to a successful planting week and hopes to see many volunteers at the garden.
