Arts Work Experience Internship 

Want to gain employable skills, earn course credit, and receive an honorarium from RPIRG? With an Arts Work Experience Internship(AWEI) with RPIRG, you can do that!

Our internship is a part-time, paid placement for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts at the U of R. Students will pay regular tuition fees and receive 3 credit hours they can use for their degree, the benefit of interning at RPIRG is we also include an honorarium on top of the 3 credit hours. Interns work up to 8 hours per week on a designated project for 13 weeks.

To be apart of this awesome opportunity there are a few requirements: Interns must be able to commit up to 8 hours per week during a 13-week semester, working for a community organization; Must have a declared major in a Faculty of Arts program (NOT including Health Studies, Human Justice or Journalism, because they have their internship programs); Must have completed between 54 - 90 credit hours (negotiable) at the end of the semester in which you are applying, which MUST include at least 12 credit hours in your major; Must have a satisfactory academic standing, with a program GPA of at least 70%.

    By supporting day-to-day operations, you'll develop an understanding of how a nonprofit functions behind the scenes. You'll be strengthening your organizational and time management skills.

  • Documenting organizational procedures to help with institutional memory

    You’ll play a key role in maintaining  the organization history by documenting processes and creating resources for future interns and staff. This improves your technical writing and process-mapping skills.

  • Gain insights into potential career paths in project management and advocacy

    This hands-on experience will let you dip your toes in the water, see what you like or don't like and thus push you into the right career path for you. 

Accessibility Information

The main entrance to the Riddell Center is physically accessible, and the building is serviced by several public transit routes. If you are taking paratransit, the bus drives up right to the front of the Riddell Center doors, and if by other it is approximately 1 minutes from the bus stops to the front of the Riddell building.

Our office is located on the second floor, there is an elevator diagonal to Riddell Centres front entrance.

Washroom access: There are gendered washrooms including accessible stalls across the hall from the main doors. There is a gender-neutral washroom on the second floor of the Riddell Center just around the corner from the elevator near the main entrance.
