RPIRG Supports Four Students to Attend National Building Reconciliation Forum

The Regina Public Interest Research Group (RPIRG) is proud to support four University of Regina students with grants to attend the 2025 National Building Reconciliation Forum, taking place May 13-15 in Regina.

This year’s forum, co-hosted by the University of Regina and the First Nations University of Canada, marks an important milestone-it’s been ten years since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission released its 94 Calls to Action. The theme for this year, “Responsibility as Reconciliation: Relational Accountability,” calls on post-secondary institutions to reflect on what real commitment to reconciliation looks like and to continue building meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities.

For the students attending through RPIRG’s support, the forum is more than just an academic opportunity-it’s a chance to be part of a national conversation about justice, healing, and reconciliation.

This conference is all about making the world a better place and I think that speaks volumes to the kind of work it will do for everyone, says one of the grant recipients.

Each year, RPIRG provides funding to support students who want to deepen their engagement with social and environmental justice. Whether it’s through community projects, research, or national conferences like this one, RPIRG believes that students can and should be leaders in shaping a more equitable world.

Attending Students are:

  • Ashley Reid
  • Taneesha Herbert
  • Delasi Essien
  • Colton Pratt
